Performance Measure

The performance of TradersWeb Short Term Trader is measured in terms of achievable gains.

Our scoring system is conservative. For example, if STT predicts a rise, but the stock opens higher than the previous close, this is recorded as "miss" rather than "gain." The reason for this is that the gain was not "achievable". Such overnight moves are usually the result of a news event after the close of the market and these sudden moves cannot be foreseen by technical analysis.

However often there are subtle changes in the indicators that anticipate these sudden moves; many times days in advance. It is these subtle changes in the indicators that our system strives to detect. Analyses of our results indicate that we are quite successful in anticipating stock price changes before the significant change occurs.

We do not recommend a specific buy-sell strategy. Instead we rely on the general principle that the investor should arrange to stop losses, and devise a strategy for taking profits. Such decisions are highly personal and for this reason we hesitate to suggest hard and fast rules.

Recent examples of our predictions can be reached from the STT home page. These STT Graphs are the best way way of showing performance. Again, these data are not the result of backtesting, but are actual results created in real time.
